This delicious caramel flan recipe makes a delightful dessert that matches just about any meal. There's many ways you can creatively touch up this simple recipe, by adding all sorts of fancy garnishes and extra treats to enhance the flavor.
In a small pan, heat the sugar until golden brown.
Pour the sugar liquid into a 10 inch round baking dish or divided equally into your individual flan molds, then tilt it and swirl the liquid around to coat the sides and bottom of the pan.
In a large metal mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until it is smooth and creamy.
Beat in the condensed milk, then the evaporated milk, then the eggs, then the vanilla. Continue beating until mixed thoroughly.
Pour the mixture into your baking dish that you have coated in the sugar solution.
Line your roasting pan with a wet kitchen towel and place your flan on top of the towel.
Place the roasting pan in the oven then fill it with boiling water until the water reaches halfway up the side of the flan pan.
Bake for an hour, until the center is set.
Remove from the oven, and cool on a wire rack for an hour or two.
Place in the refrigerator for a minimum of 12 hours to allow it to chill thoroughly.
To remove from the pan, run a knife around the sides, then place your serving platter over the flan pan. Flip over, and set down until the flan releases from the pan.
